Attracting over 15,000 attendees, the Chroma Music Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in the Philippines. AUCKLAND, New Zealand, April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A storm was brewing this morning as Gold Coast Tourism played an April Fools' joke on Kiwi travelers who are well known for bringing the bad weather with them. A new set of rules was released which aimed to stop Kiwis from raining all over the popular hot holiday destination of Gold Coast.

The faux rules targeted passengers carrying cold weather clothing and items that carried any traces of precipitation including:


-- Pessimistic clothing or footwear, including sweatshirts, jackets,
hoodies, beanies, scarves or boots
-- Items carrying traces of precipitation
-- Items exposed to rain, fog, snow, hail or storms in the last 10 days
-- Umbrellas, rain jackets, ponchos or gumboots
-- Thermal or woolen clothing including merino and polypropylene
-- Hot water bottles or wheat bags
Enforced by the fictional Gold Coast Weather Protection Unit (GCWPU), the announcement introduced a new mini-series of online video content, starring Senior Constable Steve (played by Heath Franklin) and partner Kirsty Reign (played by Cienda McNamara). The GCWPU is tasked with one thing above all others: protecting the Gold Coast area from a potential Kiwi weather invasion.

The series follows the GCWPU as it takes the safety of Gold Coast's weather to heart, whether that's by tackling passengers attempting to smuggle contraband encased in fruit or by keeping a watchful eye out for those wearing extra layers on the beach.

More than 1,200 guests partied to rock's greatest hits Saturday, March 19 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.

The night kicked off with guests dancing into the ballroom to the beat of Queen's "We Will Rock You," and the party didn't stop. Dance productions to chart-topping hits and a performance of "Satisfaction" by a Mick Jagger look-alike brought guests to the dancefloor. The night concluded with a high-intensity set from "Tracksuit Wedding," which is led by Libby Anschutz and Ali Pashel Frankfurt.

David Beuther, MD, associate professor of medicine, chief medical information officer and National Jewish Health pulmonologist, introduced two National Jewish Health patients, professional skier Jake Cohn and 15-month-old Kailia Hill. They both suffer from severe asthma and are being helped by the expertise and cutting-edge research at National Jewish Health.

"The scary truth is that 12 million Americans do not have their asthma under control, and about two and a half million have a type of severe asthma that is chronic and affects their day-to-day lives in ways we cannot imagine," Dr. Beuther said. Starting May 8(th) on Food Network Star: Comeback Kitchen, seven unforgettable former finalists enter the Star kitchen for another shot at stardom. When co-hosts Valerie Bertinelli and Tyler Florence introduce the first challenge, the competitors are forced to face their pasts by attempting to redeem the dish that was the downfall in their respective season. The alumni must then shoot a one minute "Where Are They Now?" video, updating viewers on what they've been up to and how they've improved since their Food Network Star appearance. Through three episodes, Valerie and Tyler determine who has earned a spot on the new season of Food Network Star.

In the May 22(nd) season premiere of Food Network Star, the finalists must shoot a 30-second screen test to give viewers a quick culinary preview of what they are all about. The videos debut during a VIP event at a luxury theater in Los Angeles in front of an audience; but when Bobby and Giada surprise the finalists with news that the Food Network Star: Comeback Kitchen winner will also join the competition, how will they handle this twist? Comeback Kitchen hosts Valerie Bertinelli and Tyler Florence help Giada and Bobby decide who will be the first to be sent home. During the season the finalists encounter challenges that not only test their culinary skills, but also their on-camera presence, from trying their hand at delivering food reports for Entertainment Tonight co-hosts Nancy O'Dell and Kevin Frazier, to shooting a promo for their own show, the finalists are challenged to not only create great food but great TV.

MONTRÉAL, March 31, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - As Canada's leading builder of broadband network infrastructure, Bell welcomes the results of an Internet performance report commissioned by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), showing that fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connections provide the best Internet service available in Canada today.

Released today, the CRTC report finds that Canadians are benefiting from broadband services from multiple providers that meet or exceed advertised speeds - and that FTTH outperforms all other wireline technologies, including the hybrid fibre coaxial cable connections provided by cable companies.

"Broadband FTTH supports very high speed Internet access for consumers and business while also enabling the ongoing development of exclusive product innovations from fast-growing new services like Bell Fibe TV and Fibe Internet," said Rizwan Jamal, President of Bell Residential and Small Business. "Canada's Internet providers deliver world-class broadband speeds and services. Longstanding government and regulatory policies that have encouraged investment in competing Canadian broadband networks must be maintained to ensure the ongoing deployment of FTTH and the outstanding access, speed and innovation it delivers."

The CRTC report is based on testing of broadband services available from Canada's 10 major wireline Internet service providers in late 2015. ISP-specific information is not available but results consistently show that FTTH networks like those operated by Bell in Ontario and Québec and Bell Aliant in Atlantic Canada provide:


-- Superfast download speeds, well in excess of advertised speeds
-- Superfast upload speeds, an increasingly important factor as consumers
share more and more data upstream
-- The most reliable connections, with the lowest latency rates and levels
of packet loss and the best web-browsing performance during both peak
and off-peak hours
No other Canadian communications company is investing more in new networks and product R&D than Bell. In addition to providing homes and businesses with access to high-quality broadband access, building new networks supports service innovation, creates jobs, spurs economic growth, and generates new digital opportunities for businesses and public service providers, including governments, schools and health care providers.

OTTAWA and GATINEAU, QC, March 31, 2016 /CNW/ - According to the results of the first national, independent broadband performance study, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today revealed that the majority of broadband Internet services sold in Canada meet or exceed their advertised download and upload speeds. Participating Internet service providers (ISP) included all the main Canadian facilities-based companies except SaskTel.

A preliminary report issued today found that services using Cable/Hybrid-Fibre Co-Axial (HFC) and Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) technologies delivered download speeds in excess of the rates advertised by ISPs. FTTH services delivered 119% of advertised download speed on average, while Cable/HFC services delivered 103%. Most Digital Subscriber Line-based (DSL) services met or exceeded the advertised rates too. However, DSL services in the 5-9 Megabits per second category only attained 88% of the advertised speed rate.

Performance was largely consistent across all regions, with the vast majority achieving between 109% and 122% of advertised download speed.

The data will enable the CRTC to improve its future broadband policy-making, and will ultimately form part of its annual data collection and monitoring activities. The report will enable Canadians to gain additional insight into network performance, including connection speeds, as well as provide a greater understanding of whether certain Internet services from participating ISPs are delivered at the advertised speeds. A second report will be published later in 2016, which will detail the performance of individual ISPs and their specific service offerings.

The CRTC launched a project in 2015, to measure broadband Internet performance in Canadian homes and is collaborating in this project with major ISPs across the country and SamKnows, a UK-based company contracted to undertake the study. Volunteers were selected to ensure a Canada-wide distribution among the various participating ISPs: Rogers, Vidéotron, Shaw, TELUS, Cogeco, Bell Canada, Eastlink, MTS, Northwestel and Bell Aliant. SaskTel declined participation in the project.

A device called a "Whitebox", was sent to nearly 4500 Canadian volunteers' homes across a range of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and products. The devices measured the performance of the Internet connection at different times during times when it was not in use. DSL, Cable/HFC and FTTH services were the technologies measured for the purpose of this study.
