Battersea Power Station held its inaugural annual party last night, with Sir Elton John delivering a stirring performance to an audience of thousands beneath the famous chimneys of London's legendary Battersea Power Station.

The celebrated 'Rocket Man' rolled back the years, blasting through a string of classics including The One, Your Song, and The Greatest Discovery, whilst also showcasing selected tracks from last year's critically acclaimed album The Diving Board.

The gig, inside one of the UK's most recognisable landmarks, was the focal point of the party held to thank everyone that has made the Battersea development a reality and bring together people from across the community.

Musical support came from 2013 BRIT Awards Critics' Choice winner Tom Odell. The singer-songwriter, a confessed Elton John fanatic, performed tracks from his UK No.1 debut record Long Way Down, including top 10 UK hit Another Love.

BOSTON, April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In 1999, the feature film rights to Tess Gerritsen's novel Gravity were sold outright to the motion picture company Katja Motion Picture Corporation and its parent company New Line Productions. While that project was still in development, Ms. Gerritsen wrote and submitted additional material, including scenes of satellite debris colliding with the International Space Station, the total destruction of ISS, and the surviving female astronaut left adrift in her space suit, alone and untethered. As far as Ms. Gerritsen knew, efforts to develop her novel into a film ended in 2002.

Years later, Ms. Gerritsen became aware of striking similarities between her novel and the then-upcoming film Gravity, to be directed by Alfonso Cuaron and produced, financed, and released by Warner Bros., which, since 2008, has owned and controlled New Line and Katja. Both Ms. Gerritsen's novel and the film are set in orbital space and feature a female medical doctor/astronaut who is stranded alone aboard a space station after a series of disasters kill the rest of the crew. Both detail the astronaut's struggle to survive. Both are called Gravity.

At the time, Ms. Gerritsen was unaware of any connection between those persons responsible for the film and those who had worked to develop her novel into a film. Ms. Gerritsen believed that as improbable as it appeared, it was at least within the realm of possibility that an independent storyteller could come up with the same specific setting, character, situation, and give it an identical title.

Then, in February 2014, Ms. Gerritsen received startling new information from a reliable source. She was told that at least one individual who was key to the development of the film Gravity had also been connected to her project while it was in development, and would have been familiar with her novel.

Ms. Gerritsen is now convinced the similarities are not merely coincidental. Therefore, she has decided to pursue legal action. She has engaged Glen Kulik, of the firm of Kulik Gottesman & Siegel LLP, to file a complaint against Warner Bros., New Line and Katja. Today, Clara has been visiting Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL and Kuujjuaq, QC on Day 48 of her the unprecedented 110-day, 12,000-kilometre bike journey around Canada to achieve a nation free of the stigma around mental illness.

The runoff primary election will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

TORONTO, April 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Space announced today that it has teamed
up with Syfy to produce the upcoming original adventure drama series KILLJOYS. As previously announced, hit-makers Temple Street Productions (ORPHAN
BLACK) are tapped to produce the Space/Syfy co-venture. The brainchild
of writer, creator, and showrunner Michelle Lovretta (LOST GIRL), Killjoys follows a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain
impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant
system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war. In
development since 2012 as part of Bell Media's Writer Only Drama
Development program, the project was ordered to series by Space in October, 2013. The 10-episode series will begin production
this August in Toronto, and is set to premiere on Space in 2015.

UFOTOG is a dramatic short story about a lone man attempting to photograph UFOs. Trumbull felt that it would be ideal to premiere UFOTOG at Paul Allen's iconic Seattle Cinerama Theater as the headlining event at the annual Science Fiction Film Festival Sunday May 11, 2014, in conjunction with special screenings of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, both of which have alien contact stories. In addition, Trumbull will introduce his movie BRAINSTORM, on Friday, May 9, which marked the beginning of his quest for immersive cinema.

Trumbull has embarked on a project to write, produce, and direct using the MAGI technology for the production of his own feature films at Trumbull Studios. Through his comprehensive understanding of the needed technological advances, Trumbull has constructed a laboratory/stage/studio where he can shoot 120 fps 4K 3D live action within virtual environments, and see the results on the large screen adjacent to the shooting space. Trumbull announced: "This way, we can explore and discover a new landscape of audience excitement, and do it inexpensively and quickly - we are pushing the envelope to condense movie production time, intending to make films at a fraction of current blockbuster costs, yet with a much more powerful result on the screen."

Trumbull Studios partnered with Christie to explore the potential of 3D 4K 120 fps projection, using the latest Christie Mirage 4K35 projection system. A special Mirage system will be installed in the Seattle Cinerama Theater for the premiere of UFOTOG, and the theater will soon offer the first public installation of Christie's new laser illumination system in the fall of this year.

Trumbull Studios is committed to Eyeon Software, which has enabled the production of UFOTOG with the unheard-of impact of 3D in 4K at 120 fps, using Eyeon Fusion, Generation, Connection, and Dimension. "I chose to work with Eyeon because they are the only outfit already prepared to go 3D 4K at 120 fps. They are VFX and Broadcast designers that have sat in our seats and have been under the same pressures as us. Working with Fusion, and their new Generation 3D 4K playback system shows again that Eyeon brings their experience to the current workflow trends and beyond, inventing every day to solve the challenges we pose, and always go the extra mile," says Trumbull.

Trumbull's pioneering work also included his Academy Award winning 70mm 60 frames per second SHOWSCAN process, which was widely acclaimed by industry professionals, and that led to the development of the film BRAINSTORM, which was to debut the process worldwide, with Trumbull directing. Yet in the days of celluloid film and the attendant high 70mm print costs and projector upgrades, the process did not get traction. Now, with digital projectors regularly operating at 144 frames per second for 3D, implementing much higher frame rates and increasing resolution is proving to be a cost-effective way to improve movie impact and profitability.

One objective of Trumbull's initiative is to demonstrate to the film industry that the successful future of the movie-going experience needs to be a "special event" on larger screens, at high brightness, and with ultra-high frame rate 2K and 4K presentations that cannot be emulated on television, laptops, tablets, or smartphones.
