OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- As the days draw near to the end of the season, the excitement is rising again for another baseball championship on Chicago's South Side. Hoping to push the fans and the team's buzz ever higher, musician SCOTT MAY (and his ONE-ARMED ORCHESTRA) has released a rocking song "Windy City South Side" in honor of the World Champion Chicago White Sox.
May, familiar to many as the keyboard player for Chicago's legendary IDES OF MARCH, is also known as the "Paul Shaffer" for Radio personalities "Eric and Kathy" and Kevin Matthews. May relates how the song came to be.
"About a month ago, I was having dinner with my friend JIM COVERT, who said he wrote a song 25 years ago about the White Sox that never was produced. As I was the co-writer of the Cubs song "Finally Next Year" that the Ides Of March had out a few years ago, I volunteered to bring the song to life. It also hit me that it would be cool to have a gal sing a Chicago sports song, so I called my pal LISA McCLOWRY, who nailed the song to the ceiling with a white hot performance. The guys in the band-MIKE AQUINO, KLEM HAYES, and ED BRECKENFELD were also at the top of their game. It was immediately clear that this song was going to be something special. It really rocks!"
The song is now making the media rounds, and has been presented to Jerry Reinsdorf, Ozzie Guillen, and the Team. The song's future is still being written.
Incidentally, that JIM COVERT is the cousin of the famed BEARS Offensive Tackle with the same name.
