Comcast Announces Major Additions to High-Definition (HD) Channel Line-Up in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs Digital Cable Customers Now Have the Most HD Viewing Choices, with 19 HD Channels and More Than 200 HD ON DEMAND Programs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Comcast today announced the launch of six new High-Definition (HD) channels in Colorado Springs. Comcast customers will now have access to Cinemax HD (channel 753), VERSUS/Golf Channel HD (channel 754), Universal HD (channel 755), MHD (channel 756), National Geographic HD (channel 757) and A&E HD (channel 758). The six new channels add to Comcast's existing HD offering in Colorado Springs, bringing the total number of HD channels in the market to 19. The channels are immediately available at no additional cost to Colorado Springs digital cable subscribers with an HD-enabled set-top box.
"High-Definition broadcasts are no longer a technology of the future or limited to a channel or two; a robust HD television experience is here now," said Bill Mosher, vice president of marketing for Comcast Colorado. "Comcast is committed to bringing our customers the best cable TV experience possible, and right now, we're hearing from customers that they want more HD. We're listening to Colorado Springs and delivering on our commitment."
Along with the new channels, customers will continue to be able to enjoy the 13 HD channels previously available in Colorado Springs, including ESPN, HBO, Showtime, TNT, Starz and network HD channels. Customers will need an HD-ready TV in order to properly view HD programming.
HD technology provides video and audio that is clearer, sharper and more vibrant than traditional standard-definition video transmissions. HD generates significantly wider pictures (16x9 ratio) compared to standard TV (4x3 ratio). In addition to the new channels, Colorado Springs subscribers have access to more than 200 HD viewing options at any time as part of it's signature ON DEMAND service, making HD programs available anytime a customer wants to watch them. This year, Comcast will be doubling the amount of HD ON DEMAND programming available. Since launching last fall, Comcast customers nationwide have watched more than seven million HD ON DEMAND programs.
"It's no wonder customers are demanding more HD programming," added Mosher. "Whether it's feeling like you're in the front row at your favorite sporting event or concert, or watching a movie the way a director intended it to be seen, HD enhances the overall entertainment experience. The picture quality is truly remarkable."
