ViewNow Sees 40 Percent Spike in Orders as Consumers Beat the Cold Weather and Warm Up to On-Demand Viewing
Big Box-Office Movies, Aided by Cold Weather, Keep Consumers Indoors and in Front of Their Televisions
ENCINO, Calif., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ViewNow, a leading IPTV and video-on-demand (VOD) content aggregator with distribution rights from major motion picture studios, today announced that the number of activations its carrier subscribers achieved through the first three weeks of January was 40 percent higher than activations for the entire month of December. ViewNow has seen activations surge as a result of the cold spell and recent additions to its extensive list of blockbuster movie titles, including recently added titles.
New additions to ViewNow's portfolio include Buena Vista/Disney Pictures' "Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest," the highest-grossing box-office performer in 2006; "Cars," which won the Golden Globe(R) award for the best animation picture; Universal Pictures' "Accepted" and "You, Me and Dupree"; Twentieth Century Fox's "John Tucker Must Die" and "Ice Age, The Meltdown"; and Warner Home Video's "Superman Returns" and "The Ant Bully." In the coming month, ViewNow will add top-grossing titles such as Warner Brothers' "The Departed," Disney Pictures' "Invincible," and Paramount's "World Trade Center."
"Consumers clearly found the convenience of their own in-home theater experience a great alternative to other leisure activities," said Larry Holeman, president of ViewNow. "And we expect the acceptance of our video-on-demand library to grow as more consumers find the picture quality, availability of titles, lower cost, and convenience of VOD a great alternative to the traditional movie-theater experience."
The widespread acceptance of ViewNow by affiliates is due, in part, to its unique ViewTrak solution, a system that provides all of the viewing, accountability and standard measurement metrics cited by affiliates and studios as the critical information they need to successfully manage their businesses. ViewTrak reporting gives carriers a wide array of data on customer VOD viewing habits, including what, where and when a program was watched, with all relevant data reported in real time 24x7. ViewTrak's usage reports include total views by program, views by time of day, total number of unique households, average minutes watched, and usage of trick mode functions.
"Using ViewTrak, our affiliates can accurately and methodically record usage patterns and assess how consumer viewing varies according to events such as a winter freeze," added Holeman. "In turn, they can more accurately anticipate user demands and tailor their operations accordingly."
