'Screwy' Campaign Ad Challenges Two Party System in Florida

'Screwy' Campaign Ad Challenges Two Party System in Florida

Max Linn for Governor Media Blitz Reaches Out to Dissatisfied Democratic and Republican Voters After Primary

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- In an escalating challenge to the entrenched two party system, the Max Linn for Governor campaign has initiated a second broadcast media blitz all across Florida. The unconventional new campaign will run immediately after the Republican and Democratic primaries with a message to voters who are looking for an alternative to politics as usual.

The new "screwy" commercial will air statewide. It is the second in a series of original media campaigns designed to appeal to dissatisfied voters.

The ad begins with an arresting visual of an unhappy Florida voter who has been pierced by a giant silver screw. "The screw symbolizes the feelings of many Florida voters who feel they have been left with no meaningful choice between the Republican and Democratic victors in the primary battle," said Doug Friedline, the former campaign manager for Jesse Ventura and the current campaign manager for the Max Linn campaign.

The new 'Max Linn for Governor' campaign commercials are aimed directly at the voters, with a personal message from Florida's leading third party candidate. "Career politicians are fighting a two-party battle which amounts to nothing. Candidates for both sides are still captives of special interests and lobbyists," said Linn. "The spot will soon be available as streaming video on our website, maxlinn.com," Linn noted.

In his personal message to the voters Linn reminds the electorate that he is the only candidate who made his career outside of politics. "I want voters to be aware that there is a viable political alternative who has no political or financial debts to pay in Tallahassee," said Linn.

Friedline commented, "I want Florida voters to know that the outcome of the two mainstream party primaries does not close the door to other alternatives in the general election. We intend to raise our visibility now that the media hype that preceded September 5th has finally passed."

Russell Verney, former campaign manager for Ross Perot and operations manager for the Max Linn campaign commented, "More Florida voters are registering as independents than ever before. Polls shows that even voters who are registered as Republicans and Democrats have a very feeble allegiance to their party and their candidates. The margin between the two is slim and that gives us a major opening with Florida voters."

Linn personally funded this recent term limits campaign triumph. He has now committed $1,000,000 of his own money to the gubernatorial race. "The traditional media focus is mainly on old line party candidates, but they will not be able to ignore our challenge in a three-way race," Linn remarked.
