C-SPAN and Congressional Quarterly Launch CampaignNetwork.org

New, One-Stop Resource Anchored by Extensive Video of Candidate Debates

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- C-SPAN and Congressional Quarterly announced today that they are partnering to launch CampaignNetwork.org, a one- stop resource featuring an extensive video archive of debate and event coverage from the most competitive congressional and gubernatorial races, plus in-depth political news and analysis that harness the strengths of both news organizations.

"What makes CampaignNetwork.org unique is the ability to watch C-SPAN's coverage of nearly 150 debates from around the country, archived online and updated as debates happen," says Steve Scully, C-SPAN's senior executive producer for politics. "With the addition of CQ's award-winning reporting, the site will be the go-to source for complete coverage of this fall's races."

Complementing CampaignNetwork.org's debate archive is up-to-the-minute news from the campaign trail and thorough, nonpartisan political analysis from CQPolitics.com, providing readers with a comprehensive site to track news and events leading up to November's mid-term elections.

"With the balance of power at stake in the upcoming mid-term election, we wanted to add even more value to our extensive election coverage," said David Rapp, CQ's editor and senior vice president. "By joining with C-SPAN to create CampaignNetwork.org, we are able to combine sought-after campaign- focused video with CQ's political content to create a powerful and unique online resource for full election coverage."

Additional CampaignNetwork.org features include:

* TV ads -- Watch the latest ads from the most competitive races;

* CQ's Election Forecast Map -- Powered by CQ's Politics in America, the
interactive Election Forecast Map identifies emerging trends at the
state and district level with statistics, demographic and election
history details;

* C-SPAN event coverage -- Follow candidates on the campaign trail as
they deliver speeches, attend rallies and speak at press conferences;

* CQ's Balance of Power Scorecard -- An ongoing tally of how races are
leaning by party affiliation.

"We are excited to partner with such a premier political resource as Congressional Quarterly," says Steve Scully. "With C-SPAN's unique and straightforward approach to national political coverage, paired with CQ's sharp reporting and in-depth knowledge of Congress, political junkies and casual observers alike will have at their fingertips everything they need to track the mid-term elections."

C-SPAN is the source for cable's most extensive coverage of the 2006 elections. In addition to debate and campaign event coverage at CampaignNetwork.org, C-SPAN is airing regular campaign briefings on featured congressional races during the Washington Journal, the network's live, viewer call-in program, and plans a special election night program.
