Texas Senator Meets with Pennsylvania Legislators to Encourage Cable Reform
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Senator Leticia Van de Putte today met with Pennsylvania legislators to encourage them to support state video choice legislation. Van de Putte was one of the primary sponsors of similar legislation that passed in Texas, was in town to discuss the lower prices and greater choices consumers in Texas received as a result of this legislation.
"Within a month of the bill passing in Texas, consumers saw the incumbent cable company lower its rates and offer new services to compete with new entrants in the markets," said Van de Putte. She also noted that there has been an increase of investment in cable infrastructure since the bill became law, and that more investment leads to faster service and more choices for consumers.
"Pennsylvania consumers have the same opportunity for lower process and more choice with a bill sponsored by Senator Pileggi," added Van de Putte.
CONSUMERS FIRST!, a coalition of individuals and businesses committed to regulatory policies that benefit consumers, brought Senator Van de Putte to Harrisburg to educate Pennsylvania legislators on video choice and the many benefits it can provide consumers.
"The Texas legislation set the standards we hope will be followed in Pennsylvania and Senator Van de Putte can speak directly about the benefits of video choice legislation as a legislator that has seen the consumer benefits first hand in her own state," said David Wright, Founder of CONSUMERS FIRST!.
