Teracom Partners with WEGENER to Provide Digital Signage Solutions

Teracom Partners with WEGENER to Provide Digital Signage Solutions

DULUTH, Ga., June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of products for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced Teracom has selected WEGENER technology to support digital signage solutions for its clients.

Teracom offers a robust menu of media distribution solutions to customers in Sweden and is in the process of expanding its service offerings. Utilizing WEGENER's iPump(R) Media Servers and COMPEL(R) Network Control, Teracom is currently operating two pilots that optimize end-to-end management and distribution of video and data to a client operating retail gaming establishments. The colorful digital signage displays replace paper posters updated several times a day by the staff at each location. One of the pilots also includes touch screens that provide low cost customer terminal features making use of local interactivity that is offered by the iPump Media Servers.

"Digital signage is a powerful emerging application that allows our clients to control the visual environment in their retail stores to provide a consistent and enjoyable user experience," stated Maria Berggren, Product Manager of Teracom. "Our satellite-based solution offers cutting-edge flexibility to provide simultaneous download of customized video and signage data to an unlimited number of locations. The system allows for multiple monitors per store and can be operated with or without a return path. Therefore the maintenance and startup costs involved in point-to-point high- speed internet connections can be avoided."

The WEGENER iPump 622 Media Server is used to receive, store and serve subscription based data to multiple devices within each store enabling the display of differentiated content. COMPEL Network Control and MediaPlan Content Management systems ensure the right digital content and linear video feeds are delivered to right locations at the right time.

"WEGENER's optimized media distribution solutions increase opportunities for launching revenue generating services," stated Robert Placek, CEO of Wegener Corporation. "With COMPEL(R), Teracom can service multiple customers from a single network control console. This provides significant cost and labor efficiencies for their business and enhances their capabilities to provide a rapid launch for new customers."

The WEGENER products began shipping for revenue in the third fiscal quarter, which ended June 2, 2006.
