TI DLP(R) Products and Its Customers Reach Major Milestone of 10 Million Units Shipped
At InfoComm, TI Honors Customers and Celebrates 10 Years of Product and Market Success
ORLANDO, Fla., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:TXN) will honor its customers this week at InfoComm in celebration of 10 million units shipped since inception in 1996. DLP Products is proud to acknowledge 10 years of customer innovations with DLP technology through the creation of the smallest products in the world to the brightest and most innovative form factors with the best colors and contrast ratios.
While it took 5 years to ship the first million DLP units, from 1996 to 2001, the continued focus and ground-breaking developments from manufacturers has kept DLP technology on a continual and increasing growth curve, in both units and market share. DLP Products shipped five million units by December 2004, 8-1/2 years after introduction to the market, but the pace continued to accelerate and TI shipped the second five million in just 1-1/2 years. Additionally, according to Pacific Media Associates, projectors with DLP technology now account for a majority of the market and have experienced fifteen quarters of consecutive share gain. The success can be attributed to customer achievements and dedication to introducing compelling new products for front projection, HDTV and DLP Cinema(R).
"This is a celebratory time for TI and our customers- the achievements we have reached together in the front projection, HDTV and DLP Cinema space in the last ten years are astounding," said John Van Scoter, Senior Vice President, TI DLP Products. "However, we believe this is only the beginning of where we can go, and TI looks forward to continuing to innovate, along with our customers and channel partners, and bring products to market that meet the needs of the future."
