Turkcell and EMI Make International Music Available Digitally for Mobile Users in Turkey for the First Time
ISTANBUL, Turkey, June 7/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Turkcell (NYSE:TKC, ISE:TCELL), the leading provider of mobile
communication services in Turkey, today announced that it has signed a
contract with EMI Music, the world's leading independent music company,
enabling the sale of digital music to mobile users in Turkey.
Through the Turkcell MobilMuzik service, Turkcell subscribers will now be
able to access nearly 200,000 full-track downloads from EMI's extensive
digital catalogue of global and local repertoire.
The content of MobilMuzik, one of the most popular entertainment services
Turkcell offers its subscribers, has been significantly enhanced through this
agreement. MobilMuzik allows subscribers to download their favorite pieces of
music to their mobile phones and listen to them at their request. Nearly
200,000 of EMI's international songs are now at the disposal of music lovers
in Turkey.
Highlighting plans to create a comprehensive music platform, Turkcell's
Chief Value Added Services Officer, Cenk Serdar, said, "We have achieved a

According to International Federation of the Phonographic Industry
(IFPI), music sales made through mobile phones make up 98% of all digital
music sales throughout Turkey. Turkcell has developed its MobilMuzik service
based on this fact and through EMI's music catalogue, a wide repetoire of
pop, rock, hiphop, jazz and classics are made available for downloading and
listening to through mobile phones.
Turkcell will now be able to offer consumers full-track downloads from
EMI's catalogue in Europe, including tracks by Rolling Stones, Queen, Pink
Floyd, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Norah Jones, Kylie Minogue, Joss Stone, KT
Tunstall and Robbie Williams.
