The Weather Channel Interactive Launches Made-for-Mobile Content Delivering World Class Video Weather Information to the Video Phone Consumer

Video Content Launched on Sprint TV

ATLANTA, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Weather Channel Interactive announced today the successful launch of the first commercial version of its "made-for-mobile" video forecasts, a range of localized and personalized weather forecasts and information that can be received and viewed via a mobile video phone. The new offering allows consumers with video phones to access the most comprehensive weather data available via mobile phone, including national, regional and local forecasts for over 100 U.S. locations, severe weather reports, general weather news and feature clips like Dr. Nese's Notebook.

"The Weather Channel continues to introduce new ways to deliver personalized, localized and reliable weather information to consumers across a wide variety of channels, be it a video phone, the desktop or cable television," said Louis Gump, Vice President, Mobile. "In the past, we have had considerable success deploying video products that were originally formatted for consumption on weather.com. With made-for-mobile video content, we are innovating further in terms of the ways that consumers receive information about the weather on their mobile phone, giving them more control than ever over what information they receive, as well as how and how often they want to receive it."

Made-for-mobile content includes easy-to-read, high quality and dramatic weather maps, on-demand video clips and on-location severe weather videos during hurricane season or periods of other severe weather events.

The Weather Channel's made-for-mobile content will initially be available through Sprint TV - channel 1, the "basic cable" package or their stand-alone channel 4.

"Our relationship with Sprint clearly demonstrates why The Weather Channel is the most reliable and trusted source of weather information," said Mr. Gump. It also reinforces TWC's reputation as one of the premiere sources of mobile information across all content categories for the consumer. We anticipate announcing similar partnerships with additional wireless distributors in the near future as the mobile marketplace continues to grow."
