Virtual Hold Technology Donates Toys, Helps Raise Money for WKDD's Annual Radiothon for Akron Children's Hospital

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Planning for the WKDD 98.1's annual "Have a Heart, Do Your Part" radiothon was progressing effortlessly when a company backed out at the last minute, but one Virtual Hold Technology employee happened to be listening to the radio at just the right moment.

"I was listening to WKDD, and [on-air personality] Matt Patrick was discussing a problem he had with a company that, in the past, donated stuffed animals for the Akron Children's Hospital radiothon. The other company decided not to donate stuffed animals because they felt their name was not mentioned enough during the radiothon," explained Jenni Reiserer, VHT's director of finance and administration. "I was so moved by this that while I sat in traffic that day, I called Matt and told him that I would ask the employees at Virtual Hold Technology to help out."

And as usual, the employees at Virtual Hold Technology were up to the challenge. As part of "Have a Heart, Do Your Part," on February 8th, the company donated 240 sets of coloring books and crayons and 245 teddy bears with "Get well soon from Virtual Hold Technology" on them. VHT employees donated additional coloring books and crayons, stuffed animals, and puzzles. These items were auctioned off over the weekend as part of the annual radiothon.

In 2007, readers of the Akron Beacon Journal named VHT as one of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio, and VHT's commitment to the community is just one reason why. In 2007, VHT and its employees participated in Harvest for Hunger, adopted families during the holiday season, and volunteered for AkronReads.

The ninth annual 98.1 WKDD "Have a Heart, Do Your Part" radiothon, which ended on February 10th, raised more than $1 million for Akron Children's Hospital. The money will go toward purchasing kid-sized equipment, funding research, and providing patient care programs.
