Belo Promotes Three Executives
DALLAS, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belo Corp. (NYSE:BLC) announced today the promotions of three corporate executives. Guy H. Kerr has been elevated to executive vice president/Law and Government and Secretary, Carey P. Hendrickson was named senior vice president/Chief Accounting Officer and W. Craig Harper was named vice president/Technology.
Kerr was most recently Belo's senior vice president/Law and Government and Secretary, a position he assumed in July 2003. Kerr joined Belo as the Company's senior vice president/General Counsel and Secretary in June 2000. He was formerly a senior partner of the Dallas law firm of Locke Liddell & Sapp. Kerr also serves on the Company's Management Committee and the board of The Belo Foundation
Active in numerous professional and civic organizations, Kerr is a Fellow of the Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations and is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of The Media Institute in Washington D.C. He has served as a trustee for the Highland Park Independent School District and on the board of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas. Kerr holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting from Washington & Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1975. In 1978, he earned a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University.
Hendrickson previously served as vice president/Human Resources, a position he assumed in May 2007. He held the position of vice president/Investor Relations and Corporate Communications from November 2004 until May 2007 and vice president/Investor Relations from January 2000 through October 2004. He began his career with Belo in 1992 as manager of financial planning, and then served as assistant controller from 1995 until 1997, when he was named vice president/Strategic and Financial Planning. He received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Baylor in 1985 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from The University of Texas Arlington in 1995. Hendrickson began his career with KPMG and was the director of financial planning for Republic Financial Services before joining Belo. Hendrickson is active in various professional and civic organizations, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association.
Harper most recently served as executive director/Technology with responsibility for Belo's television and cable news technical operations and strategy. From October 1999 through August 2005, he served as director/Engineering and from November 1997 through October 1999 he served as assistant manager/Engineering Services. Harper joined Belo as news operations manager at the Company's flagship television station, WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth in 1990 and served in that capacity until November 1997.
In 2007, Harper became a committee member of the National Association of Broadcasters' Technology Advocacy Program; NAB FASTROAD. He is a board member of the City of Frisco Texas Charitable Foundation and is active with the City's Fire Department. He also serves on the citizen's advisory board for the Frisco Fire Department.
