The Newswomen's Club of New York was founded in 1922 by women who covered the suffragist movement. In the 1930s, the club established an annual awards program for journalistic achievement by women. Today, the prestigious Front Page Awards for excellence in journalism spotlights outstanding work by women in the media. Entries in the six divisions and numerous categories are carefully reviewed by panels of judges, selected for their impressive credentials and their contributions to the media.
Now located in Tilden Mansion across the street from New York's Gramercy Park, the National Arts Club was founded in 1898, by Charles de Kay, onetime literary and art critic for the New York Times. A haven for artists and lovers of the arts alike, the club has admitted women on a full and equal basis since its inception.
Tickets for the event are $150 per individual and can be obtained by email through Dinner Coordinator Charlotte LoBuono lobuonon@optonline.net or by telephoning the club at 212-777-1610. Further information and photographs from the event will be available at http://www.newswomensclubny.com/.
