Critically-Acclaimed Danish Rock Band Mew Returns to The United States to Tour With Kasabian
NEW YORK, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- After a successful trip to America touring with Bloc Party, Broken Social Scene and Secret Machines on select dates this past summer (including sold-out headlining shows in NY and LA), the award-winning band Mew is making a triumphant return this fall. Beginning September 17, the band will embark on an extensive tour with Kasabian and Columbia Records labelmate band onethousand pictures (see itinerary following).
Mew won four major awards earlier this year at the annual Danish Music Awards, including Best Band, Best Singer, Best Album, and Best Rock Album. In 2005, Mew was honored with Best Breakthrough Act at the Nordic Music Awards. The group was also awarded with Best Album, Best Song and Best Male Singer at Denmark's Zulu Awards. MTV recognized Mew as the Best Danish Band.
Since the stateside debut album And The Glass Handed Kites was released in July, the band is quickly gaining momentum, blowing away fans and the press alike with its dreamy rock soundscapes and visually stunning live shows.
Entertainment Weekly calls the album "large in both sound and concept," while CMJ declares "all that's required to become enamored with Mew's majestic anthems and lush lullabies is a willingness to be disarmed by music." Pitchfork describes Mew's music "cutting edge elegant ... this could be the escape of the year, a curve off into the lush, ambitious stargazing that used to happen all the time."
Produced by Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, Brian Eno), the boundary-breaking And The Glass Handed Kites boasts vocal collaborations with indie rock hero J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. on the tracks "Why Are You So Grave?" and "An Envoy To The Open Fields."
Mew has also created elaborate film projections for its live sets. From beautiful abstract patterns to mystical creatures, the visual element further enhances the depth and emotion of the music.

Jonas Bjerre: Vocals, Guitar
Bo Madsen: Guitar
Silas Graae: Drums
