Consolidated Communications Launches IPTV in Texas
CONROE, Texas, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNSL) has launched its Internet protocol television (IPTV) service, called Digital Video Services (DVS), in Conroe and Katy, Texas.
"We are very pleased to announce the launch of our DVS product in Texas," stated Bob Currey, Consolidated's president and chief executive officer. "Given our success in Illinois with this product, we are excited about rolling it out in Texas. We believe it offers an attractive alternative to cable and satellite in our communities. It leverages our existing network, drives incremental revenue and deepens our relationship with the customer."
DVS in Texas will be delivered over the existing telephone infrastructure and will offer:

-- More than 45 digital audio channels
-- A robust offering of local and regional programming choices
-- Over 1000 hours of Movies On Demand content
-- An interactive program guide
-- A universal remote control
-- Pricing that is competitive with local satellite and cable offerings
"DVS subscribers will be able to watch television, surf the Internet and use the telephone simultaneously and receive one bill for all services," said Bob Udell, president of Texas telephone operations. "DVS will strengthen our bundled service offerings and enhance the relationship with existing customers as well as attract new customers."
The initial Texas DVS launch will pass over 37,000 homes in the Conroe and Katy areas. The company plans to roll out DVS service in Lufkin in 2007.
