Toby Keith's connection to Mohegan Sun started in 1999 when he first appeared in the Wolf Den, where he packed the house. He later returned for two more engagements in the Wolf Den and had his first concert in the Mohegan Sun Arena in March 2002, where he played to a sold-out crowd of almost 8,000 people. In total, Toby Keith has entertained more than 25,000 fans at Mohegan Sun.
His love of country music and performing began as a child while watching his grandmother play in her country band. His career took off over a decade ago with his self-titled debut album, which went on to achieve Double Platinum status. During his career, Toby Keith has sold more than 25 million records and has a long list of awards, the most recent being a Grammy nomination for his hit single "As Good As I Once Was."
Over the past nine years, Mohegan Sun has become the Northeast's premier entertainment destination, and to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to the company's success, Mohegan Sun has developed the "Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame." Tim McGraw was the first inductee in 2004; Rod Stewart and Alan Jackson were honored in 2005.
All individuals inducted into the "Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame" will have their name engraved on a plaque that will be permanently placed at the entrance to the Mohegan Sun Arena. They will also receive a crystal replica to commemorate the occasion during a special induction ceremony held at Mohegan Sun.
