New York PSC Commends RCN for Excellent Service in 2004

Public Service Commission Again Recognizes RCN for Excellent Competitive Local Exchange Service

NEW YORK, March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RCN Corporation (NASDAQ:RCNI), a leading provider of total communications service, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, RCN Telecom Services Inc., has been commended by the New York State Public Service Commission for the excellent level of service provided to customers in 2004.

Commendations are based on two measurements: Customer Trouble Report Rate (CTRR) and PSC Complaint Rate, and achievement of incentive plan targets on these two measurements. This is the 17th consecutive year the Commission has awarded commendations.

RCN is one of 43 local telephone companies and/or their operating divisions, out of a possible 69, to be recognized for its excellent service in 2004. The company is also one of 10 Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC), out of 14 such carriers in New York, to receive this commendation.
