Prescription Drug Compliance a Significant Challenge for Many Patients, According to New National Survey

The Harris Poll says one in three U-S adults who have been prescribed drugs to take on a regular basis report that they are often or very often noncompliant with their treatment regimens for any number of reasons. Furthermore, nearly half say they have failed to take their medications because of concerns they had about the drugs themselves, and 43 percent report having not complied with their regimens because they felt the drug was unnecessary.

The USO & NFL Open New Center in Afghanistan in Memory of Pat Tillman

The U-S-O is opening its newest center in Afghanistan in early April, bringing to 123 the number of U-S-O centers worldwide. The National Football League donated 250-thousand dollars to the U-S-O last year for construction of the center, named in honor of Pat Tillman. A former player with the Arizona Cardinals and an Army Ranger, Tillman was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan in 2004.

Minorities Express Higher Confidence in Building Wealth Via Lottery Above Saving and Retirement Planning

What are the methods that minorities are using to build wealth? Are minorities in the U-S comfortable that they can build wealth through the traditional means of retirement planning and saving? A survey released by Minority Wealth Magazine reveals some surprising results. When minorities were asked, "Which of the following do you think provides the best opportunity to build wealth," and given the following choices: Save in a retirement plan, Save outside of a retirement plan or Play the state lottery, the number one response from minorities was playing the state lottery. Nearly twice as many minorities surveyed admit that they have a higher confidence in building wealth through playing the state lottery, rather than contributing to a retirement fund.

Parents Who Use Illegal Drugs, Abuse Alcohol & Smoke Endanger Half The Nation's Children

Parents who use illegal drugs, abuse alcohol and use tobacco put half the nation's children -- more than 35 million of them -- at greater risk of substance abuse and of physical and mental illnesses. That's according to a new 81-page white paper, Family Matters: Substance Abuse and the American Family, released by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University.

-- 13 percent of children under 18 live in a household where a parent or
other adult uses illicit drugs.
-- 24 percent of children live in a household where a parent or other
adult is a binge or heavy drinker.
-- 37 percent of children live in a household where a parent or other
adult uses tobacco.
