Altiris Product Achieves IBM ServerProven Status by Demonstrating Real-World Customer Value Through Reduced Cost of Management and Increased Server Agility

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Altiris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATRS), a pioneer of IT lifecycle management solutions that help lower total cost of ownership of IT resources, today announced it has entered into an agreement with IBM that allows IBM to sell Altiris(R) Deployment Solution(TM) for Servers. IBM plans to sell Altiris Deployment Solution for Servers as part of a solution with the IBM ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit to help customers automate and standardize complex server deployments for IBM eServer xSeries and BladeCenter systems using both Linux and Windows operating systems.

According to IDC research, the x86 server segment continued to be strong in 2004 with IBM outpacing the category's growth rate and leading other vendors with year-over-year unit shipment growth of 26.0 percent. According to IDC, IBM owns the worldwide server systems market with 31.7 percent share in factory revenue while maintaining the number one spot in the server blade market, with 44.2 percent share.*

IBM has integrated its ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit with Altiris Deployment Solution for Servers to provide custom scripts of IBM xSeries and BladeCenter systems from within the Altiris management console. IT professionals using Deployment Solution for Servers are able to standardize processes to create more secure, reliable and consistent server configurations and to help reduce the time and cost of server provisioning. Altiris also enables remote server deployment to help IT professionals reduce costly downtime and expensive travel while helping to achieve an on-demand computing environment.
