Move Underscores Intellisync's Focus on Enterprise Mobility and Mobile Device Management
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Intellisync Corporation (NASDAQ:SYNC), a leading developer and marketer of wireless software for the worldwide mobile communications industry, announced today that Bob Apollo, 49, has been named senior vice president of enterprise operations.
Apollo was formerly executive vice president of worldwide field operations for XcelleNet (recently acquired by iAnywhere, a Sybase company), where he drove consistent growth of global enterprise license and services revenues. A veteran of 25 years in enterprise mobility and software sales/operations, Apollo also possesses extensive experience in mobile devices and security.
"Superior technology, strong and committed customers, and a proven business model in a high-growth market attract top talent," explained Clyde Foster, Intellisync's chief operating officer. "We're looking forward to Bob playing an important role on our management team as we enter what we believe to be a new period of growth. Bob brings a vast amount of executive-level enterprise sales experience to Intellisync, both with global technology leaders like HP and SCO, and fast-paced startups. In the months ahead, we also look forward to leveraging his proven ability to expand enterprise sales in international markets."
Apollo's arrival at Intellisync coincides with increasing adoption of enterprise mobility products in the U.S., Europe and Asia, as wireless initiatives appear to be taking a higher priority for IT departments around the globe. As an internationally recognized executive, Apollo's background includes more than seven years in the mobile device management arena. Intellisync was recently named a leader in the worldwide device management market by industry analyst firm IDC ("Worldwide Mobile Device Management Enterprise 2003 Vendor Shares", IDC# 31745, August 2004).
"I believe Intellisync has a strong position in a market with high-growth potential," said Apollo. "It is a company that I have admired for some time. I have been in the enterprise mobility market practically since its inception, and I believe that Intellisync is particularly well placed as the market requirements evolve from specialized point products to tightly integrated, highly scalable, integrated mobile platforms. I am looking forward to playing an important role in realizing Intellisync's future success."
As senior vice president of enterprise operations, Apollo is responsible for reinforcing Intellisync's focus on the enterprise market, with an emphasis on driving international expansion and implementing repeatable sales processes. He will focus on running Intellisync's enterprise sales, support and professional services operations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In addition to serving as an executive at XcelleNet/Sybase, Apollo also spent six years at Santa Cruz Operations (SCO), where he helped increase international revenues to more than $100 million while serving in both marketing and channel management roles; and nine years at Hewlett-Packard, where he helped grow the company's PC UNIX business by 65 percent CAGR.
