Alcatel Receives Two INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) Magazine's 'Product of the Year' Awards for 2004

DALLAS, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alcatel (NYSE: ALA; Paris: CGEP.PA) announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC(R))'s INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) magazine (http://www.itmag.com/ ) has named Alcatel as a recipient of two 2004 Product of the Year Awards. INTERNET TELEPHONY has been the VoIP Authority Since 1998(TM).

Alcatel is recognized for its revolutionary Alcatel IP Touch application phone and for its eDial Instant Collaboration System(TM) (ICS) conferencing and collaboration product (eDial was acquired by Alcatel in September, 2004). "This recognition demonstrates Alcatel's commitment to delivering user-centric IP communications solutions to enterprises, and marks our continued recognition for delivering leading products to the market," said Jean Luc Fourniou, Senior Vice President of Alcatel's Enterprise Solutions activities.

According to Rich Tehrani, Group Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY, "Each year INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements. Alcatel has demonstrated to the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY that its products or services are committed to quality and innovation while addressing the real needs in the marketplace."

Through the use of a combined built-in alpha keyboard and graphical display on the Alcatel IP Touch phones, users can access enterprise or internet-based directory data, Web content, enterprise front and back office applications, text and voice messages, and instant notifications. Alcatel IP Touch delivers advanced telephony features with superior sound quality, along with support for Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) and Bluetooth(R). The IP Touch phones are flexible and open to custom application development for unique business needs.

The ICS system offers workflow-centric presence-based calling, conferencing, secure instant messaging, and full web conferencing. The integration of ICS's communications features and "zero-footprint" client revolutionizes the rollout of such advanced capabilities in a solution requiring no software downloads, accommodating PC, MAC, Unix and Linux users alike. ICS provides the My Teamwork application in the integrated Alcatel OmniTouch Unified Communications suite and will also be integrated in Alcatel's multimedia application suite for service providers, enabling them to deliver new revenue generating Managed Communication Services.

The Product of the Year Award winners for 2004 were published in the January 2005 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
