New National Survey of Older Americans on How They Use the Internet for Health Information
The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation will release the results of a new national survey of older Americans, e-Health and the Elderly: How Seniors Use the Internet for Health Information, on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Kaiser Family Foundation's Barbara Jordan Conference Center. A panel of experts will explore:
-- How many seniors are online, and what are their attitudes toward the
Internet?
-- Are there differences in how seniors over 65 use the Internet compared
to 50-64 year olds?
-- How important is the Internet as a source of health information for
seniors, and which health topics are they most interested in
researching online?
-- Is there a digital divide that limits access to the Internet for some
seniors?
-- How likely are seniors to buy health-related products online, search
for providers, join support groups, or compare prescription drug prices
online?
-- How useful is the Internet as a tool for seniors in getting information
on Medicare and prescription drug discount cards?
Who: Drew Altman, President and CEO of Kaiser will discuss the
implications of the findings and Vicky Rideout, the lead researcher
and Vice President at Kaiser will present the detailed findings,
followed by a discussion with the following panelists:
