Cemaphore Appoints Two Vice Presidents & Expands Sales Force
SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Cemaphore Systems(TM), a leading provider of Messaging Services Management (MSM) solutions, today announced the appointment of John Rafter as vice president, operations and John Sutherland as vice president, engineering. Rafter will direct customer support, manufacturing and fulfillment, and corporate information technology. Sutherland will lead product development and quality assurance.

John Rafter was a co-founder and COO of Black Pearl, Inc., an enterprise software company focused on the automation of complex decisions. During his five years at Black Pearl, he raised $24MM in venture capital and oversaw all financial, information technology and human resources operations. Prior to that, Rafter held a variety of management roles at Sun Microsystems, including managing operations for Sun's IT Operations Services group. He also spent five years as a management consultant with Deloitte Consulting in San Francisco.
Prior to joining Cemaphore, John was the managing director of IT development at Brigham Young University. Previously he held the position of operations vice president at LANDesk Software, Inc., where oversaw the internal operations of the company including the transition of the LANDesk business from Intel. Sutherland served as general manager of the Intel Software Products and Services Division, helping to grow the LANDesk product line and increase its worldwide reach. Prior to Intel, he was a founder of Cericor, held management positions at HP, and worked at Evans & Sutherland designing computer graphics hardware.
