Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and National Sponsor QVC Expand Woman to Woman Program

Gynecologic Cancer Patients to Receive New Support in Tampa, Fla. and in Stanford, Calif.

WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) and QVC today announced two new Woman to Woman grant recipients, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. and Stanford Women's Cancer Center in Stanford, Calif. QVC united with OCRF in 2012, for a three-year $1 million commitment for the national expansion of Woman to Woman, OCRF's patient support program that pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained and supervised survivor volunteers to provide mentoring and support.

"From the moment of diagnosis through treatment and recovery, Woman to Woman survivor volunteers have helped hundreds of women and their families," said Audra Moran, OCRF CEO. "We hope to expand to at least 15 new cities within the next three years, building a strong community of support to empower more women to advocate for themselves and negotiate the many challenges of gynecologic cancers. QVC's generous national sponsorship will help ensure this continued success and propel the program to an entirely new level to support as many women and their families as possible."

QVC's relationship with OCRF began in 2007 with "QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE," a unique "designer charity sale" broadcast live from the Hamptons. Since 2007, "QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE," has raised awareness about OCRF in millions of U.S. homes and generated $6 million to fund ovarian cancer research, and has since extended its support to the Woman to Woman program.

"We believe in the power of relationships to support women's wellness and success," said Claire Watts, CEO, QVC U.S. "Woman to Woman addresses a critical unmet need for mentoring and emotional support for gynecologic cancer patients, helping strengthen their ability to cope and heal after a devastating diagnosis. QVC is proud to sponsor OCRF's national expansion of this successful program."

Woman to Woman first started in 2003 at Mount Sinai Hospital in N.Y., and in 2011 OCRF launched the program's national expansion pilot at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. With QVC's support, OCRF expanded the program to two additional sites at Duke Cancer Institute in Durham, N.C. and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven in New Haven, Conn. earlier this year.

"QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE" is scheduled to air on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm ET. Viewers will be able to purchase premier fashion, beauty, jewelry, accessories and home items at half the manufacturer's suggested retail price* with net proceeds** benefitting OCRF's research grants and its Woman to Woman program.
