What Makes a Premier Airline Terminal Run?
Watch 3net's Super Systems Program Featuring the American Airlines JFK Terminal to Find Out
NEW YORK, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- 3-D television viewers will be able to get a unique, behind-the-scenes view of how one of America's premier airline terminals keeps its complex operations running safely and on time when 3net's Super Systems program featuring American Airlines Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport airs on Sunday, April 8 (8 p.m. ET/PT).
The program will give viewers a fast-paced, hour-long tour of the operations of American's $1.3 billion JFK Terminal, which accommodates 25,000 passengers and dispatches 95 flights a day. 3net's cameras have captured the marriage of people and technology that gets American Airlines aircraft, passengers and baggage where they need to be, when they need to be there.
The broadcast features the terminal's automated passenger check-in facilities, baggage system with five miles of moving belts, control tower, ramp operations that ready aircraft for takeoff, the oneworld® alliance Transfer Center that connects international passengers with flights to and from domestic destinations, and the maintenance hangar where skilled mechanics work through the night to make ensure the safety of each plane.
"From super transit to mega farming, our Super Systems series is pulling back the curtain on some of the most complex systems on the planet, revealing to our viewers the incredible people and machines that keep the whole world ticking," said Tom Cosgrove, President and CEO, of 3net. "We are delighted to focus on American Airlines Terminal 8 at JFK Airport as a key piece in that mosaic."
"We like the fact that our customers don't have to think about the efforts of the 4,000 dedicated people at Terminal 8 and the thousands of details that make their travel experience safe, on time and enjoyable," said Mark Najarian, American's Managing Director for Terminal 8 at JFK. "But we also recognize that many people will want to know what makes this incredible operation function 24/7, and Super Systems does an outstanding job of telling that story."
The American Airlines JFK Terminal program will appear on 3net (DIRECTV Channel 107). Other programs in the 3net Super Systems series reveal the workings of New York's Grand Central Station, the New York Taxicab System, the Cranberry Harvest and United Parcel Service.
