MIPCube: Friday 30 - Saturday 31 March 2012, Cannes, France

MIPTV: Sunday 1 - Wednesday 4 April 2012, Palais des Festivals, Cannes

PARIS, March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --With a focus on innovative content from Canada at MIPCube, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) will host a screenings showcase featuring a cross-section of groundbreaking innovative digital productions by Canadian producers developed with financial support from CMF's experimental stream.

MIPCube, the two-day high-level networking and live learning experience for the business and creative architects driving the future of TV in all its forms, will take place in Cannes on Friday 30 and Saturday31 March, just ahead of the 2012 edition of MIPTV (Sunday 1 - Wednesday 4 April).

In what is billed as a lunchtime "Snack & Screen" presentation on the opening day of MIPCube, delegates will sample a cross-section of projects that explore the near and outer reaches of innovative storytelling and audience engagement -- with a fearless Canadian edge -- produced and consumed through a mash-up of applications, software and platforms. The CMF sponsored Snack & Screen event will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday 30 March with a showcase of nine groundbreaking projects, followed by a "meet-the-producers" networking lunch open to all delegates.

"The Canada Media Fund is pleased to be a pioneering partner of this first edition of MIPCube," said Valerie Creighton, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canada Media Fund. "This event is a prime opportunity to show the world Canada's leadership in developing new, exciting, and innovative projects. New platforms are shaping how producers around the world can share their stories and engage their audience. MIPCube allows us to celebrate creative ideas and share what the future of content will be in years to come."

Since its creation in April 2010, the CMF has provided more than 309 million Canadian dollars in funding (238 million euros), including 59 million CAD (45 million euros) to more than 165 innovative experimental projects originating from every region in Canada. These projects include game-changing content for the web and interactive consoles, and software and mobile applications that set new standards for the industry.

"We are delighted and very excited to present the Canada Media Fund's selection of groundbreaking interactive web content, software, video games and applications at MIPCube," underlined Laurine Garaude, Director of Reed MIDEM's Television Division. "Thanks to the CMF's funding of innovative forms of storytelling and audience engagement, MIPCube participants will be able to meet some of the most innovative content producers and leading architects of convergent and experimental content creation."
