Seattle Lawyer Featured in CBC Documentary: Scout's Honour
SEATTLE, Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For many of today's youth, being a scout is a rite of passage they've looked forward to from a very young age. Unfortunately, the nature of scouting can attract the wrong type of scout leader without precautionary measures.
Scout's Honour airs on CBC-TV, Friday, Oct. 21, at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT), on CBC News's the fifth estate.
CBC, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Times, investigates Scouts Canada's controversial tracking system which has removed pedophiles that have infiltrated the organization. This was known as the Confidential List.
The documentary will feature extensive interviews with Seattle attorney, Tim Kosnoff, who has advocated on behalf of sex abuse survivors for more than 15 years. Kosnoff speaks candidly about the widespread problem of sexual abuse in scouting.
"Wrongs of this magnitude cry out for justice," Kosnoff stated.
Scout's Honour follows the recent, public case against the Boy Scouts of America, which was led by Kosnoff and his team. The case exposed Boy Scouts of America's history of neglecting sexual abuse allegations and failing to report claims to law enforcement officials. The Boy Scouts of America has since paid millions in legal settlements.
A series of CBC News reports will focus on the investigation this upcoming week. The program is available for Canadian viewing audiences only.
Kosnoff is available for interviews on Friday 10/21/11.
