Inside Motorsports with Scott Tucker and Level 5 at Le Mans Now on Speed2
MADISON, Wis., Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Inside Motorsports, the web-based, behind-the-scenes motorsports video series, has produced a 24-minute recap of the effort made by Level 5 Motorsports in the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans. That program is available on Speed2.com, the web channel maintained by the cable TV network SPEED.
Throughout the 2011 racing season, Inside Motorsports and host Diana Binks have been following Level 5 as they competed in the American Le Mans series for the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. In June, Level 5 competed in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time as a team. That remarkable journey is the subject of the program now available through Speed2.
Viewers are treated to the drama and excitement of one of the most famous sporting events in the world. This incredible test of driver and machine has captured the imagination of fans across the globe. Inside Motorsports takes the viewer into the pits and into the minds of the drivers and crew brave enough to tackle this race.
Tucker, and Level 5 Motorsports teammates Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa, drove their No. 33 Lola-Honda Coupe to a third-place finish in the highly competitive LMP2 category. More impressive was the fact that their trouble-free race was rewarded with a 10th place result in the overall classification.
"It was a monumental effort from the team this week," Tucker said. "And, we are so thrilled to partner with Inside Motorsports to document this accomplishment. Without a doubt, it was the toughest race we've ever been in and some of the toughest competition we've faced."
When the race began, the Level 5 team start last on the LMP2 grid. However, all three drivers had solid opening stints behind the wheel, propelling the car into the top five in class early. Level 5's Lola-Honda Coupe kept ticking as the competition began running into trouble, and had the No. 33 car was up to third early in the morning.
Faced with two minor setbacks -- a spin by Barbosa into the gravel trap during Hour 14, and a quick trip to the garage for a realignment and rear deck change with three hours to go -- the team was able to keep the car in solid contention for the win.
Binks' career break as a PA came at Planet 24 Ltd in the UK working on the live weekday coverage of 'The Big Breakfast', and she quickly moved up the ladder to Editor's Assistant. Since then, she has had numerous TV appearances thanks to her initiative, professionalism and knowledge.
She has been the face of Late Night Sport on Five, and on ITV, Channel 4, Sky Sports and Motors TV in the UK and has covered an array or different motorsports, including the Formula Ford Championship, British Formula 3 and GT Championship, among others.
