Get Married Media Named National Media Partner for Wish Upon a Wedding
Partnership grants weddings and civil unions facing terminal illness
ATLANTA, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Get Married Media--a national tri-media wedding lifestyle resource (on TV, online, in print)--announced today that it is the national media partner for Wish Upon a Wedding, the world's first wedding wish granting organization.
Launched earlier this year, Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit organization that produces weddings and civil union ceremonies across the United States for individuals facing terminal illness. Get Married will work closely with Wish Upon a Wedding to give the gift of a dream wedding to couples--at hospital bedside or at a more elaborate wedding venue.
"We are honored to be part of Wish Upon a Wedding and are excited to give couples and their families the opportunity to celebrate a happy moment in their lives," said Stacie Francombe, founder and CEO of Get Married Media. "It is a privilege to join the dream-making team and be part of a group of dedicated, determined and inspiring wedding professionals who collaborate and share in creating heartfelt and beautiful ceremonies."
In addition to Get Married joining as the exclusive media partner, Francombe has accepted a position on the organization's national board as the public relations/media chair to promote Wish Upon a Wedding nationwide with the support of regional chapters.
Wish Upon a Wedding has experienced tremendous growth, with more than 16 chapters nationwide: Northern California, Southern California, Chicago, New York, D.C. {Maryland, DC, Virginia, West Virginia}, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seattle, The Carolinas, Tennessee, Colorado, Portland, St. Louis, Orlando, Boston {New England}, Arizona, Las Vegas, Miami. Unmarried couples residing in or wishing to get married within 300 miles of these cities, who are over the age of 18, legal U.S. citizens, and where at least one individual has been diagnosed with having less than three years to live are eligible to apply for weddings. Applications will be available on the website.
"We want to make a couple's dream for a wedding as easy on them as it is memorable," said Liz Guthrie, founder of Wish Upon a Wedding. "Get Married's support on a national and local level will enable us to expand our reach within local communities--the brides and grooms who have the dream and the wedding professionals who want to fulfill it."
Wish Upon a Wedding is looking for Wish Granters--regional volunteers--to provide all the goods and services required for complete wedding packages. If interested in becoming a Wish Granter, please visit the website http://www.wishuponawedding.org/ and click on How to Help. Find the local chapter and fill out the wish granter form.
