Interscope Records Becomes First Label in History to Sweep the Top Four Spots on Billboard's Year-End 'Hot 100' Songs List With Tracks From The Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in the 51-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the four most popular songs of the year have the name of just one record label on them. In the trade magazine's year-end issue just released, Interscope Records swept the top four spots on the 2009 Hot 100 Songs list with...

#1 "Boom Boom Pow" from The Black Eyed Peas
#2 "Poker Face" from Lady Gaga
#3 "Just Dance" from Lady Gaga featuring Colby O'Donis, and
#4 "I Gotta Feeling" from The Black Eyed Peas.

The feat also marks the first time since 2004 that one label group (Interscope Geffen A&M) has been responsible for the top four songs on that year-end chart.

Said Brenda Romano, President, Promotion, Interscope Geffen A&M: "When great artists and great songs come together the results can be amazing. Congratulations to the entire promotion department for their unbelievable success this year, and to everyone at Interscope; they all played an important role and were critical in creating this moment in history. We're tremendously proud of having achieved what no other record label has ever done--and we look forward to continuing that level of success with our artists in the future."

Added Steve Berman, President, Marketing and Sales, Interscope Geffen A&M: "This historic accomplishment is a testament to the talent of our artists, everyone in A&R who worked with them to create these remarkably popular records, and the efforts of the entire label. The drive, focus, and commitment that everyone demonstrated all year long are crowned by this achievement."

The Hot 100 ranking is calculated by radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Nielsen BDS, sales data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan (both at retail and digitally) and streaming activity provided by online music sources. Billboard's 2009 chart year ran from the first week of December 2008 to the last week of November 2009.
