Do you hear what I hear? 100 Monkeys launches Grape

Christmas comes early for fans with release of indie band's first studio album

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- With songs written from Los Angeles to London and produced from Lockhart, Texas to Vancouver, British Columbia, 100 Monkeys new album Grape has some miles under its belt. Grape is the fruit of a laborious 2009, during which the indie band spent the majority of the year performing live on the east and west coasts for their rapidly growing fan base and constructing make-shift recording and rehearsal studios on the road. "We wrote songs as we caravanned cross-country, we recorded songs standing in piles of pillows in the middle of a living room, and we worked with countless amazing people to make it all happen," says 100 Monkeys' Jackson Rathbone. The 14-track album is a mix of blues, rock and funk. Its varied style has a blend of the band members' own personalities, not to mention the occasional harmonica, mandolin, fiddle, trumpet, or flute. Band members take turns playing different instruments and lead vocals, a style they call "the Monkey Switcheroo."Fans attest to the popularity of this style by hollering out "Switcheroo!" during shows. Many of these fans voted earlier this year to voice their hopeful opinions about possible future tour stops. The result: A 100-city tour in support of Grape launches the day after Christmas in California.
