Destino3, Canadian 'Popera' Trio, Releases US Debut Album
ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Destino3, the Canadian classical crossover vocal trio that calls its sound "popera with a soul infusion," will release its debut album, Forte, in the United States on October 6 on the AAO Music/Reality label. Destino3 -- Paul Ouellette, Joey Niceforo and Hans Munoz -- specialize in a unique blend of soaring operatic vocals, pop licks and contemporary R&B swagger. Their stirring sell-out performances have left audiences of all ages and musical persuasions ecstatic, and they have received numerous rave reviews for their multilingual vocals and wide range of emotion and expression. Canada.com awarded the disc a grade of A and said that Forte is "rich in song and arranging," while Ontario's Tribune raved after a local concert that Destino3 "combined passionate harmonizing, commanding vocals and great accompaniment for a heady sound."
Forte, recorded in Vancouver between the spring of 2007 and spring of 2008, is the first widely available commercial CD release from Destino3, following two earlier albums, Destino Live in Concert (recorded at their first-ever public appearance) and Christmas With Destino. On Forte, Ouellette and Niceforo, along with previous member Leon Leontaridis (who subsequently left the group to devote more time to his family), take on a range of material that brilliantly showcases their breathtaking vocal talents and dramatic, romantic flair. Among the highlights are "Show Me the Way Back to Your Heart," written by the legendary tunesmith Diane Warren, "L'Hymne a L'Amour," made famous originally by the great Edith Piaf, "Il Canto," one of Pavarotti's last studio recordings, and "Someday," a timeless Disney favorite.
"We are very proud to sign Destino3 to our ever developing unique stable of artists," states Peter G. Kuys chairman of AAO Music. "Their great vocal presence and live performances will allow them to compete head on with similar groups from other countries. This is a long term project for us and we look forward to growing it in the times ahead."
Destino3's destiny first manifested itself in early 2006. Originally a quartet, the group evolved out of a popular ensemble called the Canadian Tenors. Destino3 performed their first gig in July of that year and have since toured widely, including a high-profile stop at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. With the recent addition of Hans Munoz to the group, the varied influences of Destino3's components solidified to become something truly inimitable. Each singer brings a wealth of training and experience to the Destino3 sound.
"Destino3 is thrilled to team up with AAO Music and Fontana/Universal as we begin working in the US market," states band member Niceforo. "It takes a lot of strategic effort to position a group in a new market and now with AAO Music, we all look forward to great results as we begin our US tour."
Destino3 has already appeared in Las Vegas, Orlando and other American cities, including a slot at the Miss America Pageant. They've performed for charities such as the Children's Miracle Network, and their Canadian national tour with the Rankin Family earlier this year included 18 cities across the country. Destino3 will be touring in Canada throughout October before returning to the U.S. in November for a series of American dates.
Their first single, "My Baby You," is going for AC radio adds on September 14th.
