The New Jersey resident is the host of Your Mental Health Talk Radio, a show that broadcasts for one hour, two days a week; Tuesday's and Thursday's at 8 PM EDT live for one hour.
Found at www.blogtalkradio.com/yourmentalhealth the show addresses a wide variety of topics with the intention of helping listeners address their personal issues.
"We talk about so many various topics of mental health and emotional well-being," Foreman said. "It's a show to help people and get the word out."
Foreman, 39, said she started the show two years ago -- then using a paid Web site -- after battling depression that followed the death of her son. She had been seeing doctors who prescribed medication as a solution, but found that she didn't want to rely on drugs to control her symptoms. She wanted to resolve them.
"My father is a family doctor and he didn't even know where I should turn to for help," Foreman said.
While sitting in the waiting rooms at doctors' offices, Foreman said she realized that people going through similar mental health problems were what most would consider "normal," and they came from all walks of life.
She started the show as a way to help people who might otherwise turn to self-medicating through drugs and alcohol. She wanted to feature top professionals in various fields of mental health and began scouring bookstores for works authored by experts and doctors. Then, she started calling the writers to appear on her show.
Your Mental Health Talk Radio is a call-in show with Foreman and listeners asking questions and the featured guests, who also talk by phone, answering them. The host said she prepares about 20 to 25 questions prior to airtime and reads all of the featured authors' books.
"It's a huge job," said Foreman, a wife and mother of three.
Typically airing at 8 p.m. EDT, the show is taken seriously by the mental health community, and her professionalism has earned respect from experts and listeners. She also was given an Oprah Angel Network Award.
Foreman no longer has to work to find good interview subjects.
"People started contacting me. I don't have to solicit guests that often anymore," Foreman said.
On occasion, the show's airtime is moved to accommodate a guest's schedule, and it is sometimes lengthened to ninety minutes if Foreman feels that one hour isn't enough time. She often adds shows, and has broadcast up to three days a week. Schedule changes, show times, added programs and updates are posted on Your Mental Health Talk Radio's home page at www.yourmentalhealthradio.com.
Tonight's guest is Dr. Ronald Friedrich; author of the book Living Like You Mean it. Future guests will include Zig Ziglar and his son and CEO of Ziglar International Tom Ziglar, Kevin Todeschi CEO of Edgar Cayce's Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in Virginia Beach, VA and don Miguel Ruiz, author of the New York Times best-selling book The Four Agreements.
Foreman's audience has steadily risen since she began broadcasting her show from her home studio. Blogtalkradio regularly promotes Your Mental Health Talk Radio and Jacqueline is a featured host with all of her shows appearing on the Blogtalkradio's home page each time they air. Her show is the highest rated healthcare show on Blogtalkradio. Her top-rated show, which featured "Life After Life" author Dr. Raymond Moody, was heard by more than 525,000 people world-wide.
"I'm astounded by how many listeners I have," Foreman said.
