Press conference preceding the David Lynch Foundation "Change Begins Within" benefit concert in New York to include local psychiatrist
BETHESDA, Md., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal will be among the distinguished speakers at a press conference on Friday, April 3 from noon to 1:00 pm EDT. Other speakers will include Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Russell Simmons and the concert sponsor, David Lynch. This news conference, which may be viewed online at http://www.davidlynchfoundation.org/, will launch the David Lynch Foundation's global initiative to teach one million at-risk youth to meditate. Funds for the initiative will be raised during the "Change Begins Within" benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, April 4.
Dr. Rosenthal is an internationally known psychiatrist and researcher, and medical director and CEO of Capital Clinical Research Associates in Bethesda. He will discuss his work using Transcendental Meditation (TM) for the treatment of combat-related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in veterans of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as for Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Rosenthal will point out, "TM's untapped potential for the multitudes or people afflicted by the pain and heartache of emotional disorders."
Dr. Rosenthal is the scientist who first described Seasonal Affective Disorder and pioneered the use of light therapy during his long career at the National Institute of Mental Health and author of Winter Blues and The Emotional Revolution.
