Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver Induct Newest Honorees at The California Museum's California Hall of Fame December 15, 2008
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver will induct 12 leaders, trailblazers, and legends into The California Museum's California Hall of Fame, a program created by Shriver celebrating those Californians who embody the state's spirit of inspiration and innovation: Dave Brubeck, Jane Fonda, Robert Graham, Quincy Jones, Jack LaLanne, Dorothea Lange, Julia Morgan, Jack Nicholson, Linus Pauling, Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, Leland Stanford, and Alice Waters.
All media are invited to cover the California Hall of Fame induction events, including exhibit press preview, red carpet arrival and the official induction ceremony at The California Museum.
WHEN: Monday, December 15th, 2008
10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.: The California Hall of Fame Exhibit Press
Preview
10 a.m.: First Lady Maria Shriver will give brief remarks to the
press. She will also present the winner of the Dreamers
Challenge, a scholarship award inspired by the California Hall of
Fame. This year's winner is Elena Muruato, a senior at Pueblo de
Los Angeles Continuation High School in East Los Angeles, who
wrote about providing services to children who lost parents in
Iraq and Afghanistan.
10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Tour of California Hall of Fame
Exhibition
The California Museum Executive Director Claudia French and
Deputy Director Amanda Meeker will lead a preview of the new and
expanded California Hall of Fame exhibition. The new 3,000 sq.
ft. gallery will house large items, interactive multimedia
presentations, and items of great historical and cultural
significance. Features include: Leland Stanford's "Golden Spike"
and horse-drawn carriage, Dorothea Lange's cameras, Jack
Nicholson's script from The Shining and a "Dr. Seuss" reading
room.
Refreshments will be provided.
5:00 p.m.: Media Check-in for Red Carpet Arrivals
NOTE: Must RSVP by Friday, December 12th and be able to show
press credential at check-in. At the time of check-in, media must
present official press credential or photo I.D.
6:00 p.m.: Red Carpet Arrivals of 2008 Inductees
Dave Brubeck, Jane Fonda, Robert Graham, Quincy Jones, Jack
LaLanne, Jack Nicholson and Alice Waters will walk the red carpet
with Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver, along
with family members for the posthumous awards: Theodor "Dr.
Seuss" Geisel, Dorothea Lange, Julia Morgan, Linus Pauling and
Leland Stanford.

Governor John Garamendi and Patricia Garamendi, Mayor Kevin

7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: 2008 California Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony
In an official state ceremony, the Governor and First Lady will
present the inductees with the Spirit of California medal. Due to
space limitations in the auditorium, the ceremony will be pooled
for television. All pool information will follow.
2008 California Hall of Fame Presenting Sponsors are Chevron and
