LG Electronics Unveils Comprehensive Suite of Solutions Featuring Interactive Platform and Power Saving Modes
New Hotel HDTVs Feature Stylish Design, Connectivity, Interactivity for Enhanced Guest Experience
NEW YORK, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- From a cost-effective universal applications platform that provides a new level of interactivity for lodging TVs to flat-panel HDTVs with advanced power-saving modes to "remote jack packs" for advanced interconnectivity, LG Electronics is demonstrating its expanded suite of in-room technologies this week at the 2008 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (Booth #3006).
Headlining LG's hospitality technology solutions is a new interactive platform, "Pro:Centric(TM)." Developed by lodging industry TV leader LG Electronics, Pro:Centric is designed to interface with interactive program guides and applications designed to connect guests to hotel information and more. Also on display here is LG's full line of hospitality-specific liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma HDTVs which couple sleek design with advanced technology. LG's new lodging HDTVs are equipped with new Dynamic Power Saving modes that allow hoteliers to conserve energy, while also providing superior picture quality for their guests.
"LG's new Dynamic Power Saving modes combined with our new, sleek designs are addressing important industry needs," said Ron Snaidauf, vice president of Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA. "Hoteliers are looking to upgrade to flat panels to create the feel of new, modern hotel rooms and at the same time, conserve energy in their properties."
INTERACTIVE GUESTROOM EXPERIENCE
Pro:Centric technology, built into the new LG700H series of LCD HDTVs, allows hoteliers to customize the in-room experience, providing the platform for an Interactive Electronic Program Guide (IEPG) with advanced channel search and selection capabilities, for easy channel and program searching. The technology also provides access to games, Internet data feeds and applications designed to connect guests to hotel services such as room service menus, spa services and golf course scheduling. As the world's first lodging pay-per-view (PPV) compatible television to include an embedded applications platform, the LG700H series will be available in the in 42-, 37- and 32-inch class sizes. (See separate news release for additional details.)
INNOVATIVE FLAT PANEL TECHNOLOGY
LG's flat-panel HDTVs for the lodging industry combine advanced technologies with stylish design. LG has incorporated a new Invisible Speaker system, tuned by renowned audio expert Mr. Mark Levinson, into the LG700H, LG50, LG30, and PG60 series. The speakers are part of the bezel surrounding the screen, giving a sleek appearance and hiding unsightly speaker grills. This new system is not only stylish, but delivers a wider "sweet spot." It also allows hoteliers to easily wall mount or place these TVs into smaller armoires, because the integrated audio system requires less room than typical side-mounted speakers.
For movie aficionados, LG's new HDTVs incorporate "Clear Voice" technology that raises dialogue when on-screen background noise swells. In action sequences, Clear Voice technology detects the human voice and amplifies it above other audio. The new Dynamic Power Saving modes help hoteliers conserve energy. For hotels looking to upgrade technology these Dynamic Power Saving modes provide the option to adjust power consumption and optimal picture settings.
NEW GUESTROOM PLASMA AND LCD HDTVS
LG's new 42PG60C plasma HDTV incorporates a frameless "Single Layer" design to give the 42-inch class* plasma the appearance of a single sheet of glass.
This unit incorporates the Pro:Idiom(R) digital rights management (DRM) systems to provide secure, rapid and broad deployment of HDTV and other high- value digital content as well as MPEG-2/MPEG-4 H.264 technologies to increases the number of satellite HD channels, providing guests with more entertainment options. In addition, the plasma has a 100,000 hour (typical) life span to half brightness and a high 30,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, allowing guests to view a clear, crisp picture.
Another plasma HDTV on display is the 50-inch class* model 50PG20C. Perfect for luxury suites, this plasma is built around LG's 100,000-hour panel, delivers 30,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and offers four Power Saving levels.
LCD HDTVs on display are LG's new LG50DC, and LG30DC series. Featuring "Full HD" 1080p display capability, the LG50DC series, available in 52-inch and 47-inch class sizes*, provides guests with robust colors and crisp images. Key features include:

ALLIANCE SOLUTIONS
Through the LG- LodgeNet "bundling" program announced earlier this year, LG's Pro:Idiom HDTVs can be combined with a LodgeNet LMT7Z5 Card to provide all the hardware and software to interface with a LodgeNet Video On Demand (VOD) and/or Free-to-Guest system. This bundling program results in a lower total solution cost based on streamlined installation and faster revenue- generating opportunities.
LG's products are also now compatible with new technology from Control4 Corporation. A Control4 card combined with LG's Pro:Centric integrated HDTVs creates an automation system that will allow hotel guests to control lighting, room temperature, draperies and entertainment systems through the television with a single remote control. Control4 technology is now available for integration with LG products.
FULL HOSPITALITY AND LODGING SOLUTION
For business travelers looking to multi-task on laptops and MP3 players while enjoying in-room entertainment, LG's auto-sensing Remote Jack Packs (RJPs) provide the perfect solution. LG's RJPs exceed competitors' connectivity panel technology by sensing the audio and video source automatically, thereby allowing hotel guests to check e-mail, play music, and watch the big game all through one interface. LG's RJPs are the only models in the industry to allow auto-sensing capabilities that separate audio and video. With a variety of mount options (desk back splash, wall mount, desk or table top), hoteliers don't have to worry about cluttering the room décor. Models displayed include RJP-101M, 210B, 110W, 110F, 120G and 110S.
To round out LG's full solution, LG's digital signage models allow hoteliers to communicate with guests in all areas of the hotel. The 42-inch class* LCD high-definition monitor, model M4212T-BA, is a touch-screen display that allows for easy check-in and way-finding services. In addition, LG's unique Stretch Screens (models M3800S-BN and M2900S-BN) allow for unique applications including restaurant menus, hotel directories and more at roughly half the height of a traditional LCD model. An additional digital signage monitor is the M4712C, which features split zoom capabilities for unique video wall applications.
