DataDirect Networks is enabling Hualong Digital Film to facilitate collaborative, shared workflows by providing concurrent access to nine real-time, uncompressed 2K streams generated from eight DVS CLIPSTER(R) systems, a Thomson Spirit 2K DataCine(R) for massive write-intensive, lighting fast data ingests, and many other post applications such as Autodesk Lustre(R), Smoke(R), Flame(R) and Inferno(R). Only DataDirect Networks S2A9900 platforms are able to guarantee Hualong Digital Film over 10 gigabytes per second of streaming reads and writes for all of these concurrent access points with quality-of-service.

Not only was DDN able to meet these business critical requirements -- where even a single frame drop is not an inconvenience; it's a catastrophe -- but also provide deep archival capabilities in a single platform with its ability to intermix SAS and SATA disks in the same enclosure. Coupled with its Dynamic MAID (D-MAID(TM)) technology, the S2A9900 enables Hualong Digital Film to leverage an energy-efficient solution that spins down deep archival disks automatically when not in use, conserving over 60-percent on energy costs.
