Lincoln returned to the festival with the much-anticipated signature event, Off the Red Carpet, a three-day series spotlighting industry insiders who influence present-day filmmaking. The series showcased individuals in front of and behind the camera; from actors, to writers, producers, directors, casting directors and composers.

"Lincoln has had a long and proud history of partnership with the film industry, and a special alliance with Film Life and the American Black Film Festival," said Marc Perry, Group Account Director for Lincoln, UniWorld Group Inc. "Lincoln's support of festivals like the American Black Film Festival reinforces its commitment to independent filmmaking and in bringing diverse voices to a broader audience."

The 2008 showcase of Off the Red Carpet featured a sneak peek into the Fall 2008 release of the Tyler Perry/Lionsgate feature film The Family That Preys with a discussion with the cast and producer; a conversation with celebrated actor/musician Mos Def; and a special insider with some of Hollywood's leading men including actors Michael Ealy (Barbershop, Barbershop 2, Spike Lee's The Miracle at St. Anna) and Nate Parker (Pride, The Great Debaters, The Secret Life of Bees), and producers Will Packer (Stomp the Yard, This Christmas) and Award-winning music producer Quincy Jones III. Off the Red Carpet was staged at the Lincoln Lounge where the all-new 2009 Lincoln MKS, a full-sized luxury sedan, was on display.
