Actor/Comedian Cheech Marin and 30 Top Recording Artists to Headline the Dodge Ram Tejano Music National Convention!

DALLAS, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's top Tejano (Tex-Mex) recording artists will headline the 2008 Dodge Ram Tejano Music National Convention hosted by actor/comedian Cheech Marin. The three-day event will be held in Dallas, Texas, and is scheduled from August 15-17 at the Dallas Convention Center and Hyatt Regency Hotel at Reunion. The Convention will celebrate its 5th Anniversary with a Texas Homecoming after four successful Conventions in Las Vegas. More than 7,000 Tejano music enthusiasts, fans and Tex-Mex & other music industry representatives will convene in Dallas for the largest Latin music convention of its kind. In support of the Convention, Texas Governor Rick Perry recently welcomed Tejano artists from across Texas, and proclaimed August as "Tejano Music Month" in the state of Texas. The Dodge Ram Tejano Music National Convention serves as a "meeting ground" in advancing the growth of the Tejano (Tex-Mex) music genre as an American art form.

Convention highlights include the 2008 Tejano Mega Dances held nightly and featuring "the best of the best" award-winning recording artists in a musical extravaganza to more than 4,000 dancers on a 100' by 100' dance floor. The AARP Tejano Experience USA Expo and Fanfare, a market place uniting artists with their fan base, will have more than 100 booths, three stages and artists autograph sessions. Marvel Comics Iron Man(R) and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Tricia Trevino will make appearances. The Wachovia Mi Casita Tejana will offer information on mortgage products, provide free credit reports and counseling. The Tex-Mex Special Achievement Awards honor lifetime & pioneering accomplishments, non-performing significant contributions, special achievements in the genre and humanitarian efforts in the community. Workshops and Seminars for artists and fans also will be presented as well as Master Class Music Series providing "tips of the trade" to enhance musicians skills. The Wrangler Tejano Celebrity Fashion Show will bring a "Tejano chic" element to the Convention with the latest in classic western-wear styles and accessories modeled by Tejano artists and other dignitaries.

The Convention will be hosted by actor/comedian Cheech Marin. Cheech is widely acknowledged as a cultural icon and is best known as half of the comedic duo "Cheech and Chong." Audiences will get to see Cheech's latest movie contributions with two new releases this year in Beverly Hills Chihuahua (Walt Disney) and The Perfect Game (Lionsgate).
