Minnesota Vikings and Midwest Dairy Council Kick Off 2008/2009 Junior Broadcaster Program
ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- If you can't stop talking while you're watching the Vikings, here's an opportunity to show the whole state your play-by-play skills: Minnesota kids entering third- through eighth-grades will be able to compete for a chance to participate in a live Minnesota Vikings radio broadcast as a Junior Broadcaster. The first chance to audition will be at a kick-off event at the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday, August 26.
The 2008/2009 Junior Broadcaster program, sponsored by the Minnesota Vikings and Midwest Dairy Council, will choose eight middle-schoolers as finalists. Finalists will be selected to attend one Minnesota Vikings home football game at the HHH Metrodome between September 2, 2008, and December 28, 2008. Each finalist will receive four tickets to the game, and participation in a pre- and/or post-game radio broadcast. For more information, visit http://www.exploredairy.com/.
One of the eight finalists will be named the 2008/2009 Junior Broadcaster of the Year at a later event. Last year's winner was Kylee Kohls of Litchfield.
Live auditions will be hosted at two upcoming special events:
August 26 State Fair Kick-Off Event: Come to the Breakfast Bowl kick-off event at the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday, August 26. Kids and their families are invited to sign up for an afternoon audition spot while they enjoy a free, nutritious breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Blue Ribbon Picnic Area near Heritage Square. Then, starting at 2 p.m. at the Miracle of Birth Stage, participants will take the stage to record a brief audition tape. Each child will receive a script, and be given a few minutes to wow the audience with their broadcasting skills.
October Event: On Saturday, October 11, kids can enter the contest and show off their play-by-play abilities at a special event (location TBD). Check http://www.exploredairy.com/ for all the details as they become available over the next several weeks.
