SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- GameTrailers.com's (GT) video coverage of the 2008 E3 Media and Business Summit -- the world's preeminent video games exhibition -- was the highest rated video content in the site's history, surpassing all competitive E3 online video coverage. In addition, GameTrailers partnered with Spike TV to present 'E3 Invasion,' bringing gamers what has proven to be the most expansive online and on-air coverage in E3's history. With almost 40 million media impressions for the week-long E3 event, GameTrailers maintained its position at the top of gaming media providers. GameTrailers is a division of Viacom Inc.'s (NYSE:VIA)(NYSE: VIA.B) MTV Networks Entertainment Group.

GameTrailers hosted 725 videos from E3, with each one averaging over 46,000 views for a total of over 30,000,000 video views. The next closest competitor averaged barely over 9,000 views per video. Of GameTrailers' 725 videos, 681 were direct coverage from the show floor, 17 were GT exclusives, and the remaining 44 videos were original programming produced by GameTrailers, including popular shows such as "Bonus Round" and "GT's Best of E3 2008 Awards," which drew in total over 3,000,000 views.

"E3 challenges us every year to be the leader in both quality and quantity of coverage: before, during and after the show," said Brad Winters, general manager of GameTrailers. "We couldn't be happier with the support we've gotten from gamers. Our viewership numbers and traffic demonstrate that gamers turn to GT for in-depth, exclusive coverage of the hottest breaking news in the gaming industry."

GameTrailers eclipsed its competitors several-fold on coverage of key video game titles from E3. Ubisoft's Prince of Persia E3 trailer received 600,000 views on GameTrailers -- 100 times more views than competing websites. Resident Evil 5, winner of GT's 'Best of E3' award, had more than thirty-five times more views. Bethesda's Fallout 3, EA's Mirror's Edge and Epic's Gears of War 2 all had similar results, with media views that were several thousand percent higher than other competing websites.

"This year's E3 was a great turn-out for media," said Shane Satterfield, editor-in-chief of GameTrailers. "Our users get more eager every year to see all the hot video coming out of E3, and GameTrailers is dedicated to making each one of them feel like they're on the showroom floor. The response to this year's E3 has been the biggest yet for GT, and we appreciate our viewers and the industry at large for making it such a huge success."

The figures for the GameTrailers viewership numbers were compiled by Stream Stats, GT's proprietary tool that gives gaming industry professionals insight into which games the GT audience is interacting with the most in order to anticipate upcoming sales and analyze post-release performance.
