Psoriasis Cure Now Video Contest Finalists Announced

New York and LA artists dominate winners list; the end of true amateurs?

KENSINGTON, Md., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Psoriasis Cure Now today announced 11 finalists in its 2008 Psoriasis Video Contest. The non-profit group will use the videos to inform Congress and the public about the seriousness of psoriasis and the struggles psoriasis patients face. Filmmakers from Los Angeles and New York City dominate the list of Finalists this year, winning eight of the 11 spots. This dominance by the two leading cities for film in the United States led to a more polished set of entries this year, compared to last year's contest.

"The quality of videos entered in our contest this year is dramatically higher than the quality of the typical entry last year," says Michael Paranzino, president of Psoriasis Cure Now. "It's great for contest holders like us seeking compelling videos to distribute on Capitol Hill, but it must be a little frustrating for the true amateurs out there. The rookie in his basement entering a video contest these days must feel like the Chinese basketball squad facing off against the U.S. Dream Team."

Each Finalist wins $500, and two $5,000 Grand Prizes will be awarded after the public weighs in during a week-long comment period on the Psoriasis Cure Now website (http://www.psoriasis-cure-now.org/latestnews.php).

Psoriasis is an incurable, recurring disease of the immune system, causing dry, painful skin lesions that itch, crack and bleed. Psoriasis is a daily impediment that dramatically and negatively impacts the quality of life of millions of Americans.
