Wayne County Community College District's Downriver Campus Presents the 6th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival

DETROIT, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Wayne County Community College District's (WCCCD) Continuing Education Division presents the 6th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival. This event will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at the Downriver Campus, located at 21000 Northline Road, Taylor, MI. 48108.

The purpose of this event is to celebrate the talents, creativity and achievements found within the Hispanic community. A full day of fun and learning activities for children to enjoy will be available under the youth tent, including; clowns, face painting, traditional pinatas and more.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the culture and contributions of Hispanics through a variety of workshops and group discussions. The festival will also include an art exhibit and workshop by Nora Chapa Mendoza. Traditional dance and music will be narrated by Jimmy Barrios and feature Fantasia Ballet Folkloric, Latin Extravaganza, and the Grupo Salvaje Band.

Participants will have the opportunity to shop the traditional "Mercado," where vendors will sell an assortment of hand made jewelry, crystal, apparel, beads, sculptures, piñatas and more. There will be a wide variety of Mexican food prepared by Pico de Gallo Mexican Restaurant and more.
