MANHATTAN, N.Y., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- New Yorkers may see something other than sleighs dashing through the snow as fans of the Walt Disney Pictures' and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' National Treasure franchise will see six teams of puzzle enthusiasts enter the globe-trotting, clue-hunting, code- breaking world of Nicolas Cage's intrepid treasure hunter, Benjamin Franklin Gates, when the National Treasure Book of Secrets Clue Hunt culminates with Friday's Grand Prize final Hunt in Manhattan, the morning after the film's world-wide premiere, it was announced today by Cherise McVicar, Senior Vice President, National Promotions and Mobile Marketing, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

After qualifying on-line at www.nationaltreasurecluehunt.com, regional Hunts in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington DC narrowed the field to the six top teams who will meet head-to-head and map-to-map in New York on December 14 to compete for a Grand Prize trip to travel the world. The Hunt will commence with a festive launch event at 9:30 AM on Friday at The Pond at Bryant Park, with Disney VIPs, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, and the NHL's prized Stanley Cup in attendance. The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America and makes numerous public appearances every year.

After leaving Bryant Park, teams will traverse the city, solving puzzles, looking for clues, and racing against the clock to be the first team to solve all of the mysteries and reach their final destination. The National Treasure Book of Secrets Clue Hunt is brought to you by The NHL, South Dakota Tourism, RippleTV, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Mercedes-Benz.

Anticipating the excitement of the film and the Clue Hunt, Jim Gallagher, President of Marketing, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, said, "This is the perfect opportunity for film fans and arm-chair treasure hunters to take a page, if you will, right out of the movie and embark on their own National Treasure experience."

In the follow up to the box-office hit "National Treasure," Ben Gates (NICOLAS CAGE) once again sets out on an exhilarating, action-packed global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures.

When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben's great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's death. Determined to prove his ancestor's innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations -- but to the trail of the world's most treasured and well-kept secrets.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Jon Turteltaub and directed by Turteltaub, the story reunites the original cast including Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Academy Award (R)-winner Jon Voight and Academy Award(R)- nominee Harvey Keitel, joined this time by four-time Academy Award(R)-nominee Ed Harris and 2006 Academy Award(R)-winner Helen Mirren.
