SeniorIdol.com Creates Online Platform for Fifty Plus Talent

Inspired By The Popular American Idol Television Show Site Off To A Great Start

SOMERSET, N.J., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- SeniorIdol.com officially launches its online Senior Idol talent contest today with much anticipation including a line up of talented Googlers who already have found the site along with 100,000 pre-launch hits.

This free website provides seniors (the 50-plus crowd) with a stylish online community that picks top talent every three months. Winners receive cash and prizes along with an opportunity to become a recording artist on its label. Site visitors select the top ten finalists and an expert Panel of Judges chooses 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

The project began in concept three years ago when CEO and founder Gareth Edwards, a Computer Systems Manager by profession, wanted to create a medium to enrich the lives of people like his Mom, who had few activities outside of church. Sadly, a few months before the project was completed, she became ill and passed away in January 2007.

The website offers a clever mix of services for members including discussion forums, news, games, video sharing, a talent resource page with free downloads, and a tribute page to honor family and friends. Visitors can enjoy nostalgic performances on the embedded "Video Flashback" player and can purchase music and video through the site's affiliation with iTunes and TimeLife.
