RTN to Launch in Albany
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Retro Television Network (RTN), which is nationally owned and distributed by Equity Media Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:EMDA), announced today that it plans to launch a new affiliate on the digital channel of Albany's ABC station, adding more than 550,000 households to RTN's rapidly expanding footprint. The new network will launch Oct. 1 on WTEN-TV, a Young Broadcasting station that serves upstate New York, western Massachusetts and southern Vermont.
RTN, which is home to dozens of hit shows such as Matlock, Mission: Impossible, Hawaii 5-0 and Streets of San Francisco, is a new television network that provides each affiliate a customized feed, in addition to local programming including news, weather and sports. The network is specifically designed to go on a broadcast digital channel and provides local broadcasters with a way to get ratings and successfully monetize their digital spectrum.
"RTN offers some of the best programming from years past and we believe that our viewers will positively respond to the network's Prime Time all the Time lineup," said Rene Laspina, General Manager of WTEN-TV.
"Thanks to RTN's unique, turn-key operation, WTEN-TV expands its market presence with a new advertising-supported digital network brand, which fits perfectly with Young Broadcasting's strategic goal of developing new revenue streams," added Deb McDermott, President of Young Broadcasting.
"We are excited to expand our relationship with the great team at Young Broadcasting," said Mark Dvornik, Executive Vice President of RTN. "WTEN-TV offers a broad footprint and a strong community presence, which we believe will be great assets as we introduce RTN programming in the market."
