'Where's The Fence?' Television Expands Presence in Kentucky

MAXWELL, Iowa, June 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) questions his support for the President's amnesty bill, Grassfire.org announces that it is expanding the presence of its "Where's The Fence?" television ad that has been airing in the Senator's state of Kentucky throughout the week.

"Airing the ad in Kentucky is really mobilizing the blue-grassroots of that great state," says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org. "They are taking the no amnesty, border enforcement message directly to Mr. McConnell, and it's making an impact on him. Frankly, we are thrilled that this champion of the amnesty bill is perhaps preparing to finally listen to his constituents."

Elliott says the decision to increase airtime in Kentucky is a powerful sign that grassroots pressure does indeed work. "They are the ones who signed petitions, picked up the phones, visited district offices, and got their message through to Senator McConnell. Now with this increased airtime, we are hoping to mobilize even more Kentucky voters to take a stand."

The ad airing in Kentucky features one of the ladies repeating the "Where's The Fence?" line as images of the key amnesty leaders (Kennedy, Reid, McConnell, Lott, Kyl and McCain) appear on the screen. The ad concludes with a direct challenge to President Bush, the main instigator of the amnesty bill's revival. This new ad began airing on Wednesday (6/20) in Arizona, Kentucky, Mississippi and Nevada. Grassfire is also airing the original "Where's The Fence?" spot in select key target states. The new ad time purchase has the ad running into next week. Combined with the initial ad release, the "Where's The Fence?" campaign budget now exceeds $200,000 and is expected to reach upwards of 25 million citizens.
