A Sea of Orange is Converging on Nashville for CMT DukesFest

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fans of the "Dukes of Hazzard" are tuning up, buckling up, and heading to Tennessee for CMT DUKESFEST 2007 at Nashville's Music City Motorplex and Tennessee State Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.

More than 60,000 people from all across the U.S. and several foreign countries are expected for the annual two-day celebration featuring bluegrass and country music, cast appearances, a massive display of General Lees, wrestling, and a spectacular "Hazzard County" stunt show.

"This is a family event, because the 'Dukes' is America's favorite family show," says Ben Jones, who produces CMT DukesFest with his wife Alma Viator. In addition to Jones, there will be appearances by cast members John Schneider (Bo Duke), Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke), James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane), Sonny Shroyer (Deputy Enos) and Rick Hurst (Deputy Cletus).

Another special guest making an appearance at CMT DukesFest is NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough. Yarborough will be signing autographs and meeting fans on Saturday, June 2 from noon to 3 p.m. Yarborough, who's name can be found in several NASCAR record books, guest starred in two episodes of the hit series.

On Sunday afternoon, the original "Dukes" stunt team will give a demonstration of the wild car action that was a staple of the show. "We can't have DukesFest without putting a few cars in the air," adds Jones.

Another feature of this year's event will be a tribute to the late Waylon Jennings, the show's narrator. Members of his band, the Waymore Blues Band, will perform, there will be a display of Jenning's memorabilia, including his Cadillac convertible and his original General Lee.

"Last year we had more than one hundred General Lees at DukesFest. This year, we already have more than two hundred registered," says Jones. "I'm just glad old "Cooter" doesn't have to keep them running!"

CMT DukesFest is proud to donate profits from this year's event to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
